| Beginner's Corner Tips and Hints |

|
We haven't been getting many tips and hints submitted, so this could be the last time this section will appear. If anyone has any tips, just email me and I'll include them. The following is a tip from Rollie: Beginner Tip: remember when starting a burn project, use a practice board, preferably of the same wood you are planning to burn on, and test the pen with some of the tips you plan to start with. Developing a light touch has many advantages. Light pressure burning can be more easily erased with a pen or X-acto knife with less mess. It also is like an athlete warming up before a contest. The muscles you use for skillful burning are no different so use the practice board before tackling the project. And where fine lines are needed, touching the practice board before the project board will take some of the heat buildup and provide better detailing. Rollie |
