The first newsletter was received well and since there has been
a good response I'm going to try to do it on a monthly basis, rather
than quarterly. I'd encourage you to subscribe to it because you
will be notified about a week before it is mentioned on the Woodburner
Forum. I will continue to mention it on the forum for a few more
issues and then probably discontinue mention there. Some folks have
been nice enough to include links either directly to the newsletter
or to the Southwestwoodcrafts
.com site, which is a gateway to it.
I did receive some excellent suggestions and the mention of some
problems. Seems as though Mac users and Netscape users have a problem
using the subscribe feature from the button. It is a standard mailto:
approach, but there is a problem with it. So if you are having a
problem, just send me your email

address to: newsletter@
southwestwoodcrafts.com and I'll sign you up that way.
Eventually I should be going to the use of forms when
I have time to do it.
I've added a few things to the newsletter that folks
have suggested. Suggestions and comments will benefit all and I
hope we will get more. I can't emphasize enough that I hope this
newsletter to be a product of many people and ideas. So if there
is anything you have to contribute, please let me know. If you don't
want to write the piece, just give me what you have and I'll try
to make it as compatible as possible. I will give you credit for
it, or it can be done anonymously.
Ralph has written a very nice article on Woodburning
Pens with an emphasis on the Optima design. His informative article
is listed under " Pyrography
Burners" on the menu.
NOTE: This issue has a lot of large images and
will be a slow page load for dial up users !!!

Rollie Kohl has created a great tutorial on burning a Ram and has
offered to share it with us. There are some very helpful pictures
documenting his progress, as well as some very helpful text and
guidance on how to do the burn. There were several techniques used
along the way that he will share, starting in the this issue.
The Ram tutorial begins on the project
page.
